Abstract Inspires Concrete

Hello Hatters,

Art Credit: Gina Heart Art
I write as on who wears many hats, just like you. Today, I am wearing a thinking hat, as I like ideas and how they compliment or contrast. Recently, I attended a meeting at a hotel that displayed different abstract art. I think about the artists. What moved them to make this art? How do they get inspired to create the shapes and the textures? I can no sooner answer that question or even attempt to understand, because art is not concrete. Yet it is... Art has the ability to please the eye, remind the viewer of something or it’s possible that the art is not liked at all. Perhaps people who don’t think about art just don't understand the need for expression.
I am usually pleased with creations beyond my own ability and I especially like three dimensional art. I admire sculptures made from re-purposed material. I appreciate talents that I do not possess. Just like contrasting ideas that collide with each other, I may think of something concrete that the abstract artist had no way of anticipating. Isn't that the point? Perhaps a purpose of art is to inspire individual responses. Does the concrete inspire the abstract, also?
My art comes in the form of words. I create word pictures or describe experiences. This is my art, my form of sentiment. As soon as I saw one particular piece in that hotel, I instantly thought about how the abstract inspires the concrete. I love the contrast in that statement. I look for just those kind of things to get my creative juices flowing.
I believe each person is gifted in special ways. We may be currently using them or maybe there are many abilities yet to be discovered. How exciting! Do you go into your day looking for something to learn or try or express? If not, why not? I challenge each person who leans more towards concrete ideas to look for abstract ones. I challenge each person who is more abstract to look for concrete ideas. It is good to reach out beyond ourselves. This life experience is best lived with an open mind, especially about what lies ahead for today. Think about it with me. OK?
Hugzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,
