Batteries

Hello friends,
Doesn’t it seem like everything we use needs charging? My phone charges every night. My watch charges every week. My laptop stays plugged in so I can write in a moment’s notice. Even my lighted makeup mirror needs a charge every two weeks.
TV’s, fans, lights, and appliances are constantly available because of their direct current to the power source. Yet, I recently bought a TV and of course, the remote control needed AAA batteries.
So why my commentary on batteries?
I’m so glad you asked!
I have a need for being charged up, too. Sometimes, my various batteries are low, like my emotional battery or my physical body battery. My recent fall bids me to rest my body so I can heal. Yet, I have to move. Finding the right ratio of rest versus movement can be a challenge. Rest to recharge. Move to gain agility. It’s not a one and done, either. Charge up, fill up. Turn off, power down. Repeat.
In my faith walk, refreshment to my soul happens when I study scripture and pray. Be still. Sing. Share my life with others. Show up to church and community groups. These actions and relationships are vital to my spiritual batteries. Am I 100% successful? No way; I’m a work in progress and so are my imperfect batteries.
While I know I need my batteries filled, I also know people need people. People need the Lord. Along life’s way, can we charge up each other in gladness and encourage one another with batteries of love? May it be so!
