Beach Life

Hello Hatters,

I lived a lot of my younger years near beaches. An easy hour trip would bring you face to face with sand between your toes and sea gulls begging for attention. The roar of the water, whether a gulf or an ocean, mattered not when fun was on the horizon. In just a couple of hours, sand castles take shape, ships go by, shells are gathered, and sunburn silently lands on your cheeks.

Some people like mountains and some people like forests. I’m restored on a beach. The wind, the waves and the fun draw me to this happy spot. As a matter of fact, if I think about my being a kid, I would swear that I lived directly on a beach most of my childhood. It was actually only about 3 months, but it seemed longer because of the carefree play and the quality of the time. Truly my best beach memories are jumping waves, catching bait for the local fishermen and chasing sea gulls just knowing I will catch one the next time!

Today I have on my radar hat because there’s a thirst in my soul for rest and I need to see the pattern and respond.

Although, I’m land locked most of the time now and fully engaged in “adulting“, I don’t want to feel trapped. The radar for my frame of mind must be fully aware of the need for restoration. I’m several hours from any beach. Sure, I take vacations to the beach to recharge. But when I get there, it does feel different. Now I appreciate the palm trees, sunsets, umbrellas and loungers. There’s a deliberate effort to slow down. I soak up the consistency of the waves. I know each wave is different but they just keep coming. There’s a reassurance of peace waiting for me at the beach. That’s what we all want anyway, right? Peace.

P.S. Sunscreen is now a must. Showers appreciated. Rinse, repeat for 6 days and I’m a new person and ready to go home and resume “adulting”.

Where do you go to replenish your energies? If a trip is not practical right now, how about 15 minutes imagery tour of your favorite place? Do it. For. You. Your radar might just pick up smooth skies ahead, at least for 15 minutes!

Hugzzzzzzz,

MT
