Some days are just challenging. Perhaps you overslept and your groove is thrown off. Maybe you’re dealing with a difficult situation and you’re ready to throw in the towel. Quite possibly, there’s a chore you’ve been putting off and now there’s no more time for delay. Sound familiar?
Whatever that challenge is for you, you’ve probably mindfully identified your “IT”. In truth, you and I probably have more than one “IT” on our list. Let’s consider three words, breathe, kick and smile! I’m wearing a coach‘s hat today.
Allow me to explain this mental picture. All of these words require activity. Think about it: breathe, kick, and smile. If “IT“ is going to get done, we need movement. Actually, we need momentum.
Let’s start with breathe. Think of it as a restart for your body. Conscious breathing is important in yoga and in our efforts to clear the clutter so we can gain momentum.
After the refocus with breathe, think of yourself as the best kick-boxer ever born. Make every effort to kick butt and take names (on your “IT“ task, of course). Let the Olympic Anthem music run through your mind as you tackle “IT”. Hear those trumpets play just for you. Stand and get your Gold Metal for the kick that conquered the “IT”.
Finally, show those pearly whites with a sense of accomplishment. Nothing beats a feeling of momentum well spent and chores completed.
To sum it all up, breathe like you’re in yoga, kick butt like an Olympian, and smile with satisfaction.
When you need motivation, remember to breathe, kick and smile. Be your own coach and your own advocate.
Get ‘er done.
Hugzzzzzz,
MT
