Colors

Hello Hatters,
A couple of days ago, I enjoyed the refraction of a prism. I may not understand the phenomenon as well as I should, but I'm stunned by the purity of the primary colors that blend with their neighboring secondary colors. I considered it a great reminder to watch for the unexpected on a daily basis.
In addition, I am reading a book to prepare for the Easter season. One of the chapters was about Noah in the Bible. The ending of the story is a covenant promise of no more worldwide destruction of life from floods. The physical reminder is a rainbow, a result of a sky born prism. So within a 24 hour period, colors were brought to mind in the form of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
Colors! I keep a good kaleidoscope for distraction and entertainment. It's funny, though. I'm no good at Painting with a Twist or any of those other do-it-yourself guided art programs. The perfectionist in me is never satisfied, so I avoid those experiences because it is too much pressure. Weird. Well, know thyself, right?
Back to colors, how about the sky at sundown? Isn’t it an inspiration? Yet, there has to be clouds for the sun to beautify, Does that tell you something about our journey? You have to take the clouds along with the sunsets? Problems along with the blessings? Of course, I can approach life with these thoughts in mind and my attitude is better if I expect challenges rather than label them as troubles.
Aren’t personalities colorful, too? Family reunions, work place gathers, and church functions are chalk full of opportunities to enjoy the colors of laughter, kindness and love. I’m no Pollyanna, so I am all too aware that not all gatherings are pretty. But let’s focus our thoughts on the positive treasures.
If you wonder how I can go from a prism to sunsets to personalities, it’s just that I look for contrasts and comparisons. My heart is touched by natural occurrences that help me cherish the day to day moments. I am reminded to trust the God of the universe who knows each chapter and verse of my colorful life. Thankfully, He sends me reminders. I just have to live aware.
I'm a writer who wears many hats just like you. Today, I've got my wide brim hat in my hands to catch all the color and beauty that is brought my way. I hope you look for the unexpected also. This day never comes again.
Hugzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,
MT
