Distance doesn’t Matter

Hello Hatters,
The value of my friendships is priceless. Some of my buddies are just a few minutes away by car and some are just a few hours away by plane. I’ve met them in conferences, advisory boards and faith based events. These friendships are years in the making.
It is not by chance that our lives intersect. There’s a sense of belonging and a depth of sharing that is not accidental. I enjoy sending text messages to say hello or to say something silly. It’s just the ticket to start some dialogue. I like reaching out. It’s almost therapeutic to my soul to touch base with my friends whether near or far.
Everyone is so busy and time is sucked out of the day just like a Super Sized Slurpee. I want to be deliberate with my minutes and hours and if someone is put on my heart, I pray to be mindful enough to pay attention to that nudge in my spirit.
Most people are going through something hard, even life changing. I don’t always know the hard and fast details of all those things, but I know if someone is on my mind, I’m going to take a moment and reach out. The coolest thing about the iPhone in my hand is the distance it allows me to travel and the connections it brings.
Life is sweeter with my friendships, even if we only get to relate over a text of a few words once in a while. The matter of maps or GPS is irrelevant. The shared moment in time when someone discovers they’re on my heart is a delight to me.
My hat for tonight is a traveler. No suitcase require. Distance doesn’t matter. From my heart to theirs, I‘ll send my text messages with nuggets of care for someone to know they’re treasured.
Hugzzzzzzzz,
MT
