DO-OVERS

Hello Hatters,
We recently had unexpected comedy at our taco hut. My visiting grammybabies ordered their usual breakfast, as did I. Oh yeah, my grandson quickly asked, “Can I have a side of whipped cream with that?”
So one server took our order and another server delivered the food. The whipped cream was missing, so I asked again. The hot chocolate was a little hot for the kids, so after the missing whipped cream was delivered, I put a spoonful of whipped cream in the cups. Surely, it would cool it down.
Then my grandson said, “Grammy, this doesn’t taste right.” I checked the hot chocolate and the whipped cream. Discovery made comedy as it was actually sour cream. Our server came by and I asked for a do-over on the hot chocolates. I explained and all was made well. We all had a good laugh and enjoyed our breakfast.
I’m so grateful for do-overs in every area of my life. Sometimes I turn wrong and I have to be re-directed. Other instances bring a sharp and unnecessary thought. I choose to re-think. In my faith walk, I ask for forgiveness when I’m wrong knowing my faithful God answers with mercy.
I suppose awareness is the first thing. Like sour cream that you can’t take out of hot chocolate, you have to realize something is amiss. So for me, a writer who wears many hats just like you, I have to notice the circumstance that needs a do-over. I honestly ask for a chance to start again in whatever direction it is warranted: to others and to myself. Sometimes those requests for do-overs lead me to bended knee and a vertical request to my Lord. I’m thankful to be loved and accepted.
Do-overs….
It’s a thing!

Thanks for reminding me how God gives us do-overs, second chances, fresh starts every new day. So blessed that He knows our needs before we even ask.
