Got a Spare?

Hello Hatters,
We commonly have a lot of backups. Spare tire. Extra change. A second set of shoes. A necessary handkerchief (my personal favorite). How about an emergency bottle of headache pills? Or do you carry an extra jacket in your car for a loved one who finds a restaurant too cold?
When I was younger, I was taught to be as prepared as possible. For years, I lugged around a huge and heavy purse filled with potential needs for family and friends. I enjoyed being useful in that way. I definitely could have be in the running for a Girl Scout badge for readiness.
Now, I just carry keys and my phone; I can be out of the door in moments. If I'm asked if I have something with me, (I'd still probably have my hanky), I am comfortable to just say no, knowing we're not far from home.
Very recently, I found myself in need of help and there wasn't relief anywhere in the house or the car. The very thing I needed was the knowledge and caring of a special friend who could fix the jam for which I found myself. The uncommon thing to have these days is spare time. Yet, at a moments notice my especially skilled and caring friend found her way to my home and fixed me up. I almost didn’t reach out... I almost decided to suffer through... And I almost missed out on someone being prepared for me. My need for help turned into a few hours of laughing, crying and mending my problem. Spare time.
Got any? I’m so glad my friend made spare time for me.
Hugzzzzzzz,
MT
