More than one set of Eyes

Hello Hatters,
The annual ophthalmology visit revealed a small change in these eyes. As usual, there are wait times before and during the appointment. Of course any down time transcends me into a reflective state of mind.
For example, it occurs to me that our vision has many directions. We might look back, we might look at today, or we might look forward. Don’t forget that we look inward and outward.
We see with our eyes but we process our journey with the mind, the heart, and our experiences. Ironically, for my doctor to see the different functionalities of my eyes, she has to blur them first with drops. No fun for me, a light eyed person. Each test with the bright lights revealed something to her but temporarily blinded me.
I was in the same room with the doctor and our experiences were very different. Even my patient hat makes me look at eyesight with new angles, and for sure with a new set of lenses in the future.
I am blessed with a good report and also reminded of my first optometrist appointment before I headed off to college. The prediction at that time was that glasses would be needed around the age of 40. Earlier than 40, I did develop the proverbial “eyes in the back of my head” especially during my mothering years. That necessary intuition never failed. You just knew something was happening that physical eyes might not reveal.
One more vision insight that is the most important lifeline for me is that of Biblical Faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11: 1.
Eye sight is far more than just a physical aspect and I’m so glad I have more than one set of eyes. I hope you realize you do, too!
Hugzzzzzz,
MT
