Trapped?

Hello Hatters,

On a recent freeway drive, I was surrounded by 18 wheelers.  Construction necessitated a slow speed of 6 miles an hour as the three lanes narrowed down to one.  Then, a complete stop gave me time to realize the shadows of the rigs all around me.  Me, in my little SUV, enclosed by steel, power, and weight.  My automatic headlights went on.  I had a nervous little laugh.  My navigation system announced a delay due to construction.  It was a little intimidating.

Then, I looked up.  Previously, I hadn’t noticed the sky. It was a blue color with streaks of wispy white clouds.   I felt a sigh of relief.  I was stuck there a while, but there was beauty up above.

I felt a lesson developing.  I thought about how often we viewed our problems as being trapped in the surroundings of big, giant trucks.  That position diminished the accuracy of the whole view and exaggerated the circumstances.

I’m so grateful for the reminder to look up and refocus my attention to the heavens.  My Lord brings me peace on the crowded freeway as well as moment by moment.

I’m so thankful I don’t have to stay trapped.
