Wet Weather Creek

Hello Hatters,

I’ve often admired a house situated on a wet weather creek. It has a nice deck in the back. The area around the house has many shade trees. The white tail deer like this area as much as I do. I can see myself enjoying nature at that location.
Yet, during torrential rains, it is NOT the place to be. Even with recent storm water improvements, it has made little difference when extreme weather hits. I wonder where the deer go and I wonder if the residents worry about the rising water.
About a week ago, we had severe weather and sure enough that wet weather creek was flowing out of its banks as well as over the nearby bridge. Within hours, the water subsided to safe levels. I just had to laugh how quick the trouble had come and gone.
I whimsically wished my problems would come and go as quickly as those rising waters. Yet, maybe there’s a different angle here. What if I didn’t focus on the difficulties as something to wait out or overcome?
Perhaps a better view of rising water is to know that it is temporary. Surely, rains will come again. They will also subside again. That’s just the ebb and flow of life. A positive perspective is one of seeing that growth is a better option than seeing hardship. Isn’t that a better posture than bracing for the next storm? I’ll take off my problem hat and replace it with a hat of participation with the journey. I am grateful for the reminders in nature. I’m still growing, stretching.
Join me.
Hugzzzzzzzz,
MT
